Breeze Hotels to set up hotels in tier-II and III cities

Chennai, Aug 27 (UNI) Having made its presence felt in the city for the last 17 years, Breeze Hotels, part of the Rajathi Group of Companies, today announced its foray into Tier-II and III cities as part of its "breezy" expansion plans.

Talking to reporters here, Rajathi Group Chairman Dr N Murughasan and Hotel CEO S Amarendran said as part of its expansion plans, Breeze Hotel would set up 15 business class hotels, all three-star status, in Tier-II and III cities with an investment of Rs 500 crores.

The hotels, each containing about 75 rooms, would come up at business, leisure and pilgrimage centres across Tamil Nadu and in Andhra pradesh.

Mr Amarendran said in Tamil Nadu the hotels would come up in Coimbatore, Trichy, Tuticorin, Sriperumbudur, Madurai, Ooty, Kanniyakumari, Kumbakonam, Yercaud, Vellore, Rameswaram, Kodaikanal and Cuddalore. In Andhra Pradesh the hotels would be set up in Krishnapatnam and Visakhapatnam.

The projects would be taken up in three phases commencing from 2009 with coimabtore, Trichy and Tuticorin being the immediate targets, he added.

The Group's decision to foray into Tier-II and III cities were prompted by the phenomenal growth due to setting up of SEZs, IT Parks and Tidel Parks.

''We estimate a huge potential with a requirement of about 9000 rooms in five years in Tamil Nadu itself, prompting us to foray into the Tier II and III cities'', Mr Amarendran said.

He said the company was planning to attain a turnover of Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 crore in 2012 from the present Rs 125 million USD.
