Body of textile labourer found in NTM market
Surat, Aug 27 (UNI) The body of a textile labourer was found under mysterious conditions at the New Textile Market (NTM) here, creating panic among casual labourers working in the markets.
Suresh Vaishnav (30), a resident of D J Park, Parvat Patia, was found dead at the NTM premises last night.
Post-mortem report revealed that Suresh died due to grievous head injuries, which he had sustained after falling from a height, sources from the New Civil Hospital here said.
Suresh was working as a casual labourer with textile merchant Sunil Agarwal, who owns a shop in the market. Surat Zilla Textile Market Transport Labour Union was demanding a wage hike and Suresh was a member of the union, police said.
Suresh's family members alleged that Sunil along with three other people came to their house yesterday midnight and took Suresh along with them. Later, his body was recovered from the NTM by security officials. Family members were demanding strict action against culprits.
Union Leader Gopal Shekawat said death of Suresh has sparked anger among the union members, adding that such acts were being repeated from time to time, which can't be tolerated. He said the entire NTM was observing a closure today in view of the incident.
However, Sunil said Suresh had fallen from the third floor of the shops' building accidentally and he had nothing to do with his death.
Police has registered a case in the matter and further investigations are on.
