Serial blasts planned in Bhopal: DGP
Jaipur, Aug 26 (UNI) The serial blasts in Jaipur, Bangalore and Ahmedabad were the handiwork of the banned outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and were planned during a meeting in Bhopal in April, Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) K S Bains today said.
Talking to mediapersons here Mr Bains said SIMI functionaries including Sajid Mansoori, Tauqir, Shahbaz Hussain had participated in the meeting. These functionaries later visited Jaipur in April to implement the plan and carried serial blasts later on May 13 which left 68 people dead in the Pink City.
''Shahbaz Hussain, a key player in selecting the venues and planting bombs in Jaipur blasts has been arrested from Lucknow with the help of Uttar Pradesh Police. He was also instrumental in mobilising resources for the task'', Mr Bains said.
Shahbaz is said to be the key aide to the Jaipur Blasts mastermind Sajid Mansoori.
The DGP said Shahbaz's arrest was made on the leads provided by the Gujarat Police. Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra Police were also cooperating Rajasthan Police for further investigations in the blasts.
