Notice issued to 16 in TNBBA case
Chennai, Aug 26 (UNI) The Madras High Court has ordered notice on a contempt of court petition filed by the Honorary Secretary of Tamil Nadu Basket Ball Association(TNBBA) seeking to punish 16 people for violating the court's earlier order.
While admitting the petition Justice P R Sivakumar ordered notice to the respondents returnable with in two weeks.
According to the petitioner Senthureswaran, the Government in 1987 sanctioned a piece of land in Kilpauk on a 30-year lease to establish a basketball stadium. The indoor stadium named after the former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was constructed in 1993 and the association smoothly ran the affairs.
Some disgruntled elements, however, attempted to start a rival association under the name. Hence it filed a suit and they were restrained from using its name and logo.
