Srinagar, Aug 26 (UNI) Indefinite curfew continued in Srinagar and other major towns of the Kashmir valley for the third day today without any relaxation.
Officials claimed that the situation was well under control, but gave no relaxation in the curfew imposed on August 24 at 0400 hrs as a precautionary measure.
They said curfew was strictly been imposed and people had been directed to remain indoors.
People defied curfew restrictions at more than a dozen places in the Kashmir valleyesterday. Five people were killed and 70 others wounded after security forces opened fire, burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse them.
The authorities had clamped curfew, following a Lal Chowk Chalo call given by the Coordination Committee (CC), spearheading the agitation in the valley.
