Energex-2008 to be held from Sept 26
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 26 (UNI) Energex-2008, a three-day exhibition showcasing Tiruchirapalli as one of the major engineering hubs and energy equipment and fabrication capital of the country, will be held here from September 26.
Addressing a press conference along with Energex Chairman P V Kannan yesterday, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Tiruchirapalli chapter Chairman Senthil Annamalai claimed that 65 to 70 per cent of the boilers made in the country were manufactured in Tiruchirapalli.
New investments would consolidate its position as the energy equipment and fabrication capital of India, he said.
The Rs 10,000 crore power industry in the district could grow to Rs 35,000 crore by 2015 with heavy investments in boiler and fabrication industries, Mr Kannan said.
He said the exhibition would highlight Tiruchirapalli's contribution in terms of business and opportunities created in the energy equipment industry.
A conference, with presentations on technology for high and medium efficiency and green methods of power generation, would be held as part of the exhibition.
The event is expected to attract 80 exhibitors and 5,000 business and trade visitors, fetching about Rs 300 crore revenue, he added.
