Dame Helen Mirren happy with uncensored Caligula release
London, Aug 26 : Hollywood actress Dame Helen Mirren is fine with the release of the uncensored DVD of her most controversial flick 'Caligula'.
Mirren played Caligula's wife Caesonia, alongside actors Malcolm McDowell in the title role, Peter O'Toole and Sir John Gielgud in the 1979 flick about a roman emperor.
Earlier, the uncut version of the film was censored because producer Bob Guccione, the publisher of Penthouse magazine, had added few sex scenes using penthouse models, as he felt the flick was too sanitised, leaving the cast of the flick fuming.
"He shot this hard core footage two years after the film had been completed and spliced it in, it was absurd," the Daily Express quoted Malcolm as saying.
However, after nearly two decades, both Malcolm and Mirren have approved of the uncensored version of the flick, calling it an "irresistible mix of art and geni-tals".
