Cong to select winnable, loyal condidates for Raj Assy polls
Jaipur, Aug 26 (UNI) Winnability and loyalty to the party will be the basis for the selection of the Cngress candidates for the Rajasthan Assembly elections due to be held by November.
This has emerged at the first meeting of the Party State Election Committee, which was held here today under the Chairmanship of Party state president C P Joshi.
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Party State Screening Committee Chairman Digvijay Singh, AICC General Secretary and a galaxy of prominent Congress leaders, including former Rajasthan Chief Minsters Ashok Gehlot and Jaganath Pahadia, Union Ministers Sheesh Ram Ola and Namo Narain Meena participated in the meeting.
Mr Joshi told reporters, ''We have begun the process of selection of the nominees. The party members would initially identify winnable and loyal incumbents in their respective areas, after consulting the local party functionaries and would bring their proposal before the Committee, which would forward the same with it's recommendation to the party high command.'' The next meeting of the committee would be held here on September 2, Mr Joshi added.
