Britney will not perform at this year's MTV Video Music Awards
New York, Aug 26 : Popstar Britney Spears won't perform on the MTV Video Music Awards this year, the star's manager has announced.
The manager of the 'Sometimes' hitmaker, Larry Rudolph, confirmed that the singer would not be strutting her stuff at the September 7th show.
"She did the promo for them, but there never were any plans for her to appear on the show," The New York Daily News quoted a spokesman for Rudolph, as saying.
The spokesman also revealed that it was "wishful thinking" when Britney's hair colourist told E! News that he might be working on a look for her VMA performance.
However, Britney has been nominated for three award categories this year including the coveted Video of the Year prize.
At last year's award show, a sloppy-looking Spears attempted to make a comeback - and wound up a laughingstock.
Her laughable, lip-synched performance of "Gimme More" was universally panned. It ushered in a disastrous year for Spears that included a failed child custody battle and a stint in rehab.
