AP Assembly adopts report on suspension of TDP MLA

Hyderabad, Aug 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Assembly today adopted the report, submitted by Committee of Privileges, in the case relating to the breach of privilege against opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA K Balarama Krishna in the House.

Placing the report on the table of the house, Committee Chairman G Venkat Reddy said the committee members recommended that the TDP MLA, representing Addanki constituency in Prakasham district, should be suspended from the house for a period of six months.

Mr Murthy had made derogatory comments against Speaker KR Suresh Reddy while addressing a meeting last year. The issue was referred to the Privileges Committee to take action against him.

Stating that the remarks against the Speaker comes under breach of privileges and the member deserved punishment, Mr Reddy said after hearing the views of the members of Committee, it was clearly established that Mr Murthy made remarks against the Speaker.

Defending himself in the house, Mr Murthy said he did not make any derogatory comment against the Speaker and claimed that evidence procured by the Committee were not correct.
