SO suspended in SBI fake currency case
Siddharthnagar, Aug 25: Shamsher Bahadur Singh, who was the station officer Dumariaganj Station has been suspended for his alleged involvement into SBI Dumariaganj branch counterfeit racket. The SO Shamsher Bahadur Singh had deposited in his account Rs 4 lakhs, which were seized during the raid at the residence of Sudhakar Tripathi, the prime accused and suspended bank cashier, police said on Monday, Aug 25.
Besides, orders have also been issued to detect the property of the SO. Earlier, Shamsher Bahadur Singh was attached to lines over the same and official inquiry was initiated against him and policemen involved into the case.
On July 29, STF of the Uttar Pradesh Police had held Sudhakar and seized Rs 7,21,000, including fake notes worth Rs 5,000 from his house and requested the RBI for currency screening in the branch's main chest in Siddharthnagar district.
Later, RBI handed over the counting work to SBI officials, who completed the screening of fake notes on Saturday, Aug 23.
