Two killed in bomb blast in Kanpur
Kanpur (UP), Aug 25: A powerful blast occured in a private hostel on Sunday, Aug 24 killing two people. Police also recovered high intensity exlosives from the site. The roof of the building collapsed and the walls developed cracks due to the heavy impact of the blast.
The victims were Rajiv Mishra, son of the owner of Mishra hostel, and his friend Bhipindra Singh. The explosion took place in a room of Mishra hostel in Shardanagar's Rajiv Nagar area, Inspector General of Police, Kanpur zone, S S Singh told media. He said both were sitting in the room of a hostel when the explosion occurred.
Police seized a large amount of explosives and timers from the hostel."The watches, wires and explosives recovered from the site point towards a plan of exploding a timer device," said S S Singh. Police suspect the blast was a result of a mishap and are probing whether the hostel was being used to assemble bombs.
