Jammu, Aug 25 (UNI) The Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) today criticised former Jammu and Kashmir deputy chief minister and Senior Congress leader Mangat Ram Sharma over his statement for defending the government's decision of revoking land transfer order.

''The Congress leader, who has defended controversial decision of the government to cancel allotment of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board at Baltal, is an insult to the people of Jammu region,'' Leela Karan Sharma, converor of the Sangharsh Samiti said at a press conference here this evening.

Mr Sharma, however, appealed the people of Jammu to socially boycott all the Congress leaders, including Mangat Ram Sharma, the former Education Minister Gulchain Singh Charak and former Social Welfare Minister Mula Ram for rubbing salt on the wounds of Jammu people.

''Mr Ram's statement clearly indicates that appointment of J&K Governor N N Vohra followed by canceling allotment of land to the Shrine Board was a deep rooted conspiracy hatched by the UPA and Azad-led government in the state,'' the Convenor told reporters.

''The Congress leadership has played with the religious sentiments of the people and is responsible for present turmoil in Jammu and they should not be spared for backstabbing the people of this region,'' the Samiti leader said.

Meanwhile, lambasting the National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership for maintaining criminal silence over atrocities on minorities in Poonch and Kishtwar districts, Mr Sharma said riots in these twin districts exposed their communal faces.

''Kashmir-centric political parties like the PDP and NC were hell bent upon to create communal divide in the Muslim majority areas of the Jammu region and following their failure to accomplish their nefarious designs, the parties have directed their cadre to these areas to instigate mob and attack the minorities,'' alleged the Samiti Convenor.
