Jaunpur, Aug 25: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) former general secretary and Vidhan Parishad member Munna Singh Chauhan on Monday, Aug 25 demanded the Uttar Pradesh government to initiate a drive for providing compensation to the natural calamity victims. Talking to mediapersons, Mr Chauhan said the government should immediately render financial help to the families of the deceased, who lost their life in rain, flood and related incidents and a drive should be initiated to compensate those whose houses collapsed in rains, he added.
Besides, a survey should be done to estimate losses of crops in rains and flood and the farmers be paid the compensation accordingly, he asserted.
He also stressed upon speeding up of relief and rescue work at the flood-hit districts in the state.
Replying to a question over student union election at colleges and varsities, he said the government appeared reluctant over conducting student union polls, however, RLD student union was all set to fight the election with it's full strength.
