Lucknow, Aug 25 (UNI) Shahbaz Hussain, the suspected terrorist who was arrested today by the Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh police for his involvement in the May 13 Jaipur serial bomb blasts, has been taken to Jaipur on transit remand.
A local CJM court allowed the Rajasthan police to take Shahbaz on transit remand.
UP Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Brijlal this evening said the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Jaipur had issued a production warrant against Shahbaz in connection with the serial blasts that rocked the areas under Manik chowk police station in the Pink city.
Shahbaz was arrested from his Senergic computer centre situated in front of Mahila college in the busy Ameenabad market here, Mr Brijlal informed.
The police officer, however, refused to divulge any detail about Shahbaz and only said that he was the native of Bhadoi.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer said that Shahbaz was a close confidant of Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) chief Safdar Nagori and had his involvement behind the serial blasts at Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad courts in November last year.
Shahbaz had bought the bicycles that were used in the blasts at these court compounds.
Sources have also hinted that Shahbaz was said to be assisting other terrorist organisations in selecting spots and transporting explosive materials.
The arrested is a computer expert, who used to assess internet for several terrorist operations.
Earlier in the day, a senior police official had told UNI that the Rajasthan police had come with the arrest warrant and the same was executed with the help of UP police here.
Shahbaz is said to be the close aide of Abu Bashar, the mastermind of Ahmedabad bomb blasts on July 26, who was arrested from here on the eve of Independence Day. His involvement in the Jaipur blasts is also suspected.
