Tirupati, Aug 24 (UNI) Once again the temple town has become a political base for politicians with actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi launching his party at his maiden public meeting here on August 26.
Arrangements are in full swing at Avilala which hosted AICC Plenary Session in 1992 during Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao's tenure.
The actor's brother K Nagendra Babu, brother-in-law Allu Arvind and some close aides have already arrived here to monitor the arrangements.
Sources close to Mr Chiranjeevi said he would contest the elections from Tirupati constituency following the footsteps of NTR.
He was looking to repeat NTR's feat of coming to power within nine months of founding the TDP.
Mr Chiranjeevi would also announce the party's ideology at the maiden public meeting which coincides with the birth anniversary of Mother Teresa.
He is also expected to come up with some populist measures.
After the grand launch, the film star would go on a State tour.
The film star would arrive here tomorrow evening and would proceed to Tirumala Hills for darshan next day at the Sri Venkateswara Temple.
He will offer prayers to his favourite deity, Anjaneyaswamy, at Japaliteertham.
He will go to Tirupati where he will garland Dr Ambedkar's statue near RTC Bus Stand before proceeding to the venue of the public meeting by a helicopter.
The party would be registered with the Election Commission next month on any one of the auspicious dates, 8,17 or 26, sources close to the actor said.
