Srinagar, Aug 24 (UNI) Thousands of people continued to hold processions on streets with '' Mashals'' in their hands in the evening in almost all parts of the Kashmir valley.
Raising pro -freedom slogans, people, majority of them youths, took to the streets in different parts of the civil lines, uptown and downtown, besides Shar-e-Khas last evening.
Holding ''mashals'' in their hands, the processionists marched through different streets in their respective areas before dispersing peacefully.
In the uptown, about 100 youths on motorcycles and scooters also went through different streets, raising pro-freedom slogans and holding ''mashals''.
Similar reports were also received from other parts of the valley.
However, there was no report of any clash between the processionists and security forces from any part of the valley.
The evening processions are going on in the valley for the past one week.
The Coordination Committee (CC), an alliance of both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC), Kashmir Bar Association (KBA), other separatist organisations and Kashmir Fruit Growers Association (KFGA), has appealed to the people to organise peaceful demonstrations in the valley.
The CC is demanding the opening of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road for trade, withdrawal of troops and all special powers to security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
