K'taka to issue GO to implement budget programmes

Mysore, Aug 24 (UNI) Karnataka Transport Minister and senior BJP leader R Ashok today announced that the government would issue a Government Order (GO) to implement various budget programmes.

Laying the foundation stone for a Rs 108.5 crore Joint Venture project for the development of the transport system in and around the Mysore city, he said as per Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa's instruction, the GO would be issued on or before September nine.

The project, jointly taken up by the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Karnataka government and the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), was expected to be completed within two years.

Under the project, as many as four mega bus stands, including shopping complex, would be constructed in and around the city, he added.

For the first time in the country, the city has been selected for implementing a Global Positioning System (GPS) in both urban and rural bus services to enable passengers to get informations on arrival and departure details of buses, he added.

Karnataka Rural Development and Panchyat Raj and District Incharge Minister Shobha Karandlege said the government was committed to improve the infrastructure of the Mysore to make it as a top tourist destination in the state.
