Cong leaders from Jammu alarmed at communalisation of situation

New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) Congress leaders from Jammu,who held a series of meetings with the central leaders here on the latest political crisis, have expressed serious anxiety on "communalisation of situation" in the state and asked the government to take immediate steps to resolve the Amarnath land allotment issue so that peace is restored at the earliest.

The Congress leaders,who are camping here for the past few days, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, as they are worried over continued violence and turmoil in the troubled state and urged the central leaders to resolve the issue through dialogue.

The 12-member delegation including Mr R S Chib, Mr Gulchan Charak, Mr Dharmpal, Mr Lal Singh and Mr Amrit Malhotra today also held luncheon meeting with Water Resources Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Prof Saif-ud-din Soz where extensive discussion was held on current situation in the state and steps that are required to be taken for restoring peace.

Pradesh Congress General secretary Ashok Bhan was also present at the meeting.The meeting felt the present situation has damaged secular fabric in the state and there is a need for urgent intervention by the government to bring about peace.

Mr Ashok Bhan had also met the Prime Minister a few days back to apprise him of the political problem in the state.
