BSNL would not be privatised: Scindia
Khandwa, MP, Aug 24 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Jyotradtya scinddia today assured that there are no plans to privatise the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.
Mr Scindia told reporters here that Initial Public Offer (IPO) of BSNL would be issued soon with the objective of expanding the company. The IPO was expected to raise 5-10 per cent capital.
Broadband services and CDMA mobile network would be made available at places where there just 100 consumers. Five districts had been included in e-district project. Earlier, the scheme was available for Gwalior and Shivpuri only.
He said 50,000 of 13.5 lakh landline consumers had been provided collar-ID phone, while the rest would be provided by the end of December.
E-kiosks would be opened and 18,484 would be employed with two people in each e-kiosk.
Taking a dig at the BJP Government for misleading people in the name of Investors Meet, he said the government must inform number of industries that had laid foundation in the state.
He added that foundation of mobile towers had been laid in Khandwa with a cost of Rs 17 crore.
