BJP to field candidates for all Assembly, Lok Sabha seats in AP
Hyderabad, Aug 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh BJP President Bandaru Dattatreya today said his party would contest all the 294 Assembly and 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the coming elections.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the party's core committee that met on last Friday had discussed the political situation in the state and decided to contest all the seats.
The party had also constituted a 13-member State Election Committee, headed by the BJP state President as the Chairman.
He said the party had also selected candidates for 50 Assembly and 12 Lok Sabha seats unanimously and it would be sent to the party's central leadership for approval. The Committee would select the candidates for the remaining seats later, he added.
Stating that there was no threat for the BJP due to the new political party launched by actor Chiranjeevi, he said the opposition Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) chances would be affected with the new party.
There was confusion in the TDP and Congress in rural areas due to Chiranjeevi's popularity, he said, adding, the ruling Congress would face anti-incumbency factor in the next elections.
He said BJP Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha L K Advani would inaugurate the 'Vijay Yatra', to be launced by the state party unit in the second week of October.
