Winehouse's 'self-harm' joke voted as year's funniest gag
London, Aug 23 : A gag about troubled pop star Amy Winehouse has been declared as the 'funniest joke of the year' at Edinburgh Comedy Festival.
Comic Zoe Lyons, of Brighton, cracked the joke about the 24-year-old singer in her show, called Mangled Mantra of the Messed-up Modern Mind, which won accolades in a public poll held at the festival.
Her winning gag is: "I can't believe Amy Winehouse self-harms. She's so irritating she must be able to find someone to do it for her."
Zoe won the Dave Award, sponsored by the TV channel.
"I am absolutely delighted. I know self-harming is not funny, but it's just a joke so I'm not going to beat myself up about it," Telegraph quoted Zoe, as saying.
A judging panel trawled through hundreds of comedy acts performing at the Fringe to pick out their favourites. The best 30 were then put to the public.
