AP: Bhagavath Gita books by TTD to prisoners
Tirumala, Aug 23: To promote humanity and spread spirituality among prisoners in Andhra Pradesh, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) Trust Board, the highest decision-making body of the Venkateswara temple in a meeting resolved to distribute Bhagavath Gita books and laddu to all prisoners in Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to newspersons here yesterday, TTD Trust Board Chairman B Karunaka Reddy said the spiritual book and laddu would be distributed to the prisoners in the State every year. The scheme would be launched from Diwali, he added.
Mr Reddy said the Board had taken a decision to provide free-meals to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) hostel-students in TTD-run educational institutions and also to the TTD employees students, who are studying in professional colleges abroad.
TTD is running about 30 educational institutions, including one at New Delhi and Vellore in Tamil Nadu.
