New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) The Congress today welcomed the resignation of Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, and said it would support the candidature of JMM chief Shibu Soren but it was for him to ensure the numbers.
It has been our consistent stand that the Congress will support Mr Soren to the Chief Ministership of Jharkhand. But it is for him to manage the numbers," AICC spokesman Manish Tewari told UNI.
He said the main concern of the Congress was to keep the communal forces at bay.
Mr Koda announced his resignation from the chief ministership a day after he held discussions with UPA chief Sonia Gandhi.
