President meets high level Chamber delegation
Kolkata, Aug 23 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today assured her support to the Indian Chamber of Commerce especially to the latter's initiatives for the development of the Northeastern region.
A high-level Chamber delegation, led by the president Sanjay Budhia, called on Ms Patil at Raj Bhavan.
The delegation apprised her of various initiatives taken by the Chamber for the development of the industrial climate of the region in the field of agriculture, food processing, small-scale industries and information technology.
Mr Budhia also apprised Ms Patil of the agenda for the year with special reference to the programmes for economic development of the North-Eastern region.
He also extended an invitation to the President to attend the fourth North East Business Summit to be held in Guwahati next month.
Mr Budhia also briefed the President about the Chamber's initiatives for ushering in the second Green Revolution in the country.
The eight-member delegation included senior Chamber vice-president V Saran, vice-president Jayanta roy and former president Umang Kanoria.
