Patiala placed stronger against Amritsar in DP trophy semis

Patiala, Aug 23 (UNI) A masterly century by Preetkamal Singh (102) for Patiala against Amritsar placed the former in a strong position in the semi-final match of the Punjab Inter-District cricket tournament (Under-19) for Dhruv Pandove Trophy here today at the Dhruv Pandove Stadium.

Amritsar won the toss and elected to field first. Patiala piled up 292 for 9 in 95 overs at the end of day's play. Preetkamal Singh tore the Amrtisar bowling apart, and in association with all-rounder Robin Dhillon (67),produced 116 runs for the 5th wicket.

Sahil Sachdev was unbeaten on 44.

For Amritsar, Baljeet Singh, Pankaj Choudhary and Vinay Choudhary took 2 wickets each, giving away 39, 74 and 75 runs respectively.

The two-day match is poised for a thrilling finish when Amritsar bat tomorrow as they have a good batting line-up.
