Shimoga, Aug 23 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said there was no dearth of funds for taking up development works in the state.
Speaking after laying the foundation stones for ''Bhadravana'' at Bhadra Reservoir Project (BRP) here, he said the Rs 60 crore ''Bhadravana'' project would be developed in the model of 'Brindavana' of KRS near Mysore. Development works of this project would be taken in two phases.
The Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioners to suspend on the spot those officials, who are corrupt and fail to implement the government projects in time.
He also ordered the Deputy Commissioners to issue certificates to physically-challenged persons in their respective native places and ensure that the funds allotted for the respective development works were spent in the same year.
He said Rs 120 crore had been sanctioned for construction of pathways, children garden and Park either side of river Tunga running through the city for public utility.
The government was contemplating to set up a 1000 MW power project in Shimoga. ''I am in search of suitable land in and around the city,'' he added.
