Hyderabad, Aug 23 (UNI) Krishnastami, the birthday of Sri Krishna was celebrated with religious fervour and traditional enthusiasm across Andhra Pradesh tonight.
The legend has it that it was on Ashtami day or the eighth day after Raksha Bandhan during the Hindu month of SHRAVAN, that lord Krishna, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu was born.
Krishna temples across the state including the one run by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness(ISKCON) in the city was tastefully decorated on the occasion.
Bhajans were organised on the occasion to commemorate the birth of Sri Krishna, one of the most glorious incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
Schools and cultural organisations organised competition for children in which they participated portraying him as a naughty child, a cowherd, a destroyer of demons, an enthralling flute-player, and a divine lover.
Reports of celebrations came from all over the state.
