What inspired Gwen Stefani to name her son Zuma Nesta Rock
New York, Aug 23 : American singer-songwriter Gwen Stefani has started a guessing game, after she named her baby boy Zuma Nesta Rock, making rumours fly about its origin.
With not even a hint to its meaning being given by Stefani and Gavin Rosdale rumours have started spreading as to what inspired it. The first part of the name, Zuma, is said to be the name of a beach in Malibu, where Rosdale reportedly had a moment of clarity that began his career.
It is also the name of Neil Diamond's 1975 album, and a video game popular in 2004.
On Stefani's part, her being influenced by Jamaican music reggae legend Bob Marley, seems to be the answer to the name 'Nesta', which was Marley's real first name, before immigration officials changed it to Robert.
"This name obviously links to big brother Kingston's and is another nod to Jamaica and reggae," the New York Daily News quoted baby name expert Pamela Redmond Satran as telling Usmagazine.com.
As regards the baby's last name 'Rock', it is said that the third album of Stefani's band 'No Doubt', entitled 'Rock Steady', may be a possible source of inspiration.
