Ganja worth more than Rs 12 lakh seized in Dimapur
Kohima, Aug 23 (UNI) Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel recovered about 2,100 kg ganja from a truck at the Motor Vehicle Check Point (MVCP) at Nagarjan.
Official sources said here today that the truck, bearing Nagaland registration number, coming from Manipur and heading towards Assam, was intercepted yesterday and the contraband consignment was recovered from a hidden chamber of the truck.
The sources said the ''grade one'' ganja was concealed in 108 polythene packets. The approximate worth of the contraband in the local market is Rs 12,60,000, the sources said.
The IRB personnel handed over the consignment to the police and accordingly the truck driver and handyman were arrested and the truck seized.
Police also recovered two false number plates from the truck.
Meanwhile, investigation is on to apprehend the other members of the gang, the sources said.
