Ahmedabad, Aug 23 (UNI) A local court today sent four SIMI activists and accomplices of Safdar Nagori, one of the key conspirators of the Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts of July 26 that killed over 60 people, to judicial custody till tomorrow.
Metropolitan Magistrate J K Pandya sent Kamruddin Nagori (brother of Safdar Nagori), Ameel Pervez (second-in-command in the organisation), Shibly and Hafiz Hussain (SIMI's Karnataka operations chief) to judicial custody as their three-day production warrant expires tomorrow.
The four suspects have been brought here on production warrant from Indore Central Jail for their alleged involvement in the Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts case.
While, Safdar Nagori would be brought here by Gujarat Crime Branch sleuths and ATS officials from Indore on Monday.
Safdar Nagori and his brother Kamruddin had trained over 50 activists of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), including nine activists from Gujarat who were earlier arrested by Gujarat Police for their alleged involvement in the serial bomb blasts case, for terrorist activities and arms training in the jungles of Kerala in January and Halol in Gujarat in March this year. Safdar was arrested in Indore on March 26.
These four SIMI activists were brought here on Production Warrant from Indore Central Jail, Madhya Pradesh, under tight security blanket provided by 45 commandos of Gujarat Police along with six sleuths headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Himanshu Shukla.
While another team of Gujarat Police with another Production Warrant have gone to Rewa Central Jail of Madhya Pradesh to bring Safdar Nagori to Ahmedabad on Monday.
