Hyderabad, Aug 23 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh cabinet today designated three state government officials to coordinate with Railway officials to ensure that there was no delay in movement of fertilizer-laden rail rakes.
The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy asked the cabinet sub-committee constituted to check price rise and monitor the fertiliser movement, official sources said.
Later, video conferencing with the District Collectors, Dr Reddy allayed the fears of farmers and said that adequate quantity of fertilisers was available with the government. The problem relating to movement of fertilisers would ease in the next three to four days.
Panic buying by farmers was mainly responsible for the present situation in some areas of Krishna and Guntur districts, he said, adding that similar situation was faced in the Telangana region earlier.
