AP Govt to popularise open schools
Hyderabad, Aug 23 (UNI) In an effort to impart quality education to large number of students, the Andhra Pradesh government will popularise 'Open schools,' Minister for Open Schools M Hanumantha Rao said today.
Talking to reporters after a review meeting with MLAs and MLCs, he said the government would lay emphasis on imparting vocational training for Class X students on predominant vocation in a particular area.
Admitting that enough awareness had so far not been created on open schools, he said Mandal Education Officers in each mandal would be asked to effectively supervise the functioning of these schools and create greater awareness. In each of these schools one Resource person would be appointed.
He said an allocation of Rs 1,200 crore had been made for construction of school buildings under the Rajiv Vidya mission.
Replying to a question, he denied any misuse of funds allocated for the centrally-sponsored Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
