AIFB urges Mamata to resolve Singur issue with Tata
Lucknow, Aug 23 (UNI) All India Forward Block (AIFB), a coalition partner of the left front government in West Bengal, has appealed to Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress to reconsider their decision to lounch an agitation against the Tata unit in Singur and hoped that the matter would be resolved amicably.
Talking to UNI here today, AIFB general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Debabrata Biswas said the issue of the farmers in Singur and other parts of the country was serious and a permanent solution something had to be evolved.
Mr Biswas has also asked the state government and the TMC to sit and solve the issue so that TATAs were not forced to pull out their manufacturing unit from the state.
He demanded that central government to come out with Land Use Maps and Rehabilitation Act to prevent agriculturale lands from being acquired for industrial purpose. In such cases the farmers should have their share in the industrial units. While the Land Use maps would earmark the land to be acquired for the industry purpose, the Rehabilitation Act would ensure adequate compensation to the farmers.
