Special train spreading awareness about HIV arrives in Kolhapur
Kolhapur, Aug 22 (UNI) A special train, Red Ribbon Express, aiming to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS disease, launched by the Union Government and National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), reached here today.
The special train arrived at the Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj (CST) railway station here from its two-day halt in Miraj station in Sangali district.
After its arrival, an awareness exhibition was inaugurated by NCP MP Nivedita Mane. Among others, present on the occasion included Shivaji university vice-chancellor Dr Manik Rao Salunkhe, top government officers, health department officers and elected members.
Seven bogies of the train will stay here for two days. During the stay, an awareness drive about AIDS will be undertaken by organising cycle rallies, staging street plays, screening documentaries and holding meetings in the 48 villages of the district.
