Lawyers agitated over debarring of 2 senior lawyers by Delhi HC
New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Lawyers of the subordinate courts today struck work to express their resentment against the order of the Delhi High Court debarring senior lawyers R K Anand and I U Khan from appearing in the courts for four months.
D K Sharma, Secretary of the Delhi High Court Bar Association, said, ''We are always concerned about the lowering standards of the institution of Justice but the Bar resents the trend adopted by the judiciary to target the lawyers alone and let off the erring judges.'' The anguish of the Bar has been conveyed to the Chief Justice and other Judges. In protest, all the lawyers will wear white badges while appearing in the courts.
Mr Sharma said debarring both the lawyers from their legal profession by the High Court bench, headed by Justice Manmohan Sarin, amounts to overstepping their limits, which the Bar will not accept.
''There is a whole lot of Pandora box of allegations against the Judges, but no one can speak against them,'' Mr Sharma claimed.
R K Anand had made several objections to transfer his case to some other Judge as he feared an adverse order because of his personal enmity with Justice Sarin.
Justice Sarin has recently been allevated as Chief Justice of the Jammu High Court, only for a month, as his retirement is due after that.
