Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) With Vijender Kumar adding another bronze to the Indian medal tally at the Olympics, the Haryana government today announced a reward of Rs 25 lakh to Bhiwani Boxing Club coach Jagdish Singh for producing world-class boxers.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Singh had worked hard to bring laurels to the country through boxers like Akhil Kumar, Jitender Kumar, Dinesh Kumar and Vijender.

''We have decided to honour him with a reward of Rs 25 lakh.

He has done a lot for boxing in Haryana,'' Hooda said.

Singh, who trains his boxers at his modest club in Bhiwani, has already been chosen for the Dronacharya award - the highest award for sports coaches in the country.

Hooda further said that Bhiwani will now have a full-fledged boxing academy to encourage other youngsters to take the sport.

The Haryana government has announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh for Vijender and Rs 25 lakh each for Akhil and Jitender, both of whom have reached the Olympics Boxing quarters.
