Gujarat police to remand SIMI leaders
Indore, Aug 22 (UNI) A team of Gujarat police from Ahmedabad arrived here yesterday to take on remand several leaders of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) detained in Indore and Rewa jails in Madhya Pradesh.
The police team is scheduled to put up an application today in a court in neighbouring Dhar district regarding 13 SIMI leaders' remand, who were detained few months ago in connection with a case registered at Pithampur in Dhar district, Superintendent of Police Chanchal Shekhar said.
While SIMI leader Safdar Nagori is lodged in Rewa jail, others have been put up at the Central jail here, police sources said.
Besides Nagori, Amir, Hafiz, Sibli and two other SIMI leaders are likely to be taken on remand for interrogation in connection with the recent serial bomb blasts in Ahmedabad and other places.
