Togadia arrested in Amarnath land row protest
New Delhi, Aug 21: Hundreds of activists including Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia and some Delhi BJP lawmakers were arrested temporarily on Thursday, Aug 20 for demanding the transfer of land to the Amarnath shrine. Togadia led over 1,000 activists in a protest march at Rajouri Garden in West Delhi on Thursday, Aug 20 a senior police official said. About 7,000 activists reportedly took part in the 'Jail Bharao' agitation, claimed VHP leader, Vinod Bansal.
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Jagdish Mukhi, MLAs O P Babbar, H S Balli and Avtar Singh Hit and five MCD councillors were among those arrested.
Some activists also courted arrest in Hauz Khaz, Paharganj, Ashok Vihar, Nand Nagri and Bhola Nath Nagar.
On Wednesday, Aug 20 Togadia said the Amarnath issue was now a national problem and was no more limited to Jammu and Kashmir.
