Bhiwani, Aug 21 (UNI) The proposed Boxing Academy at Bhiwani, announced by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, would be set up on the pattern of Australian Institute of Sports and it would be equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities.
Stating this here today, Bhiwani Deputy Commissioner T L Satyaparkash today said the district administration had recently forwarded a plan to the state government for setting up a Boxing Centre in Bhiwani but Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had announced to set up a Boxing Academy in Bhiwani to mark the historic victory of Vijender Singh in the quarter final in Beijing Olympics.
Mr Satyaparkash said a Therapy Centre and a Nutrition Centre would also be set up in the Academy besides a practice hall.
He said efforts were being made to get sports projects to the tune of Rs 30 crore sanctioned and implemented for Bhiwani.
He said the building for the centre of Indian Sports Authority would be constructed soon in Bhiwani, besides constructing a Gymnasium hall at a cost of Rs 83 lakh.
Mr Satyaparkash said the district administration would recommend to the state government to make Kaluwas, the native village of Vijender Singh and Devsar, the native village of Jitender to be made as model villages.
He hoped that many more players of Bhiwani would bring fame to the state as well as the nation in the next Olympic Games.
