By Staff

New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has congratulated free style wrestler Sushil Kumar for winning the bronze medal in the 66 kg category at the Bejing Olympics today.

Sushil, who got a bye in the first round, lost in the pre-quarterfinals to Andry Stadnik of Ukraine.

The grappler from Haryana then showed tremendous strength and endurance to win three bouts within one hour in the repechage round to grab India's first wrestling medal in 56 years.

The first wrestler to win an Olympic medal for India was Kasaba Jhadav at the Helsinki Games in 1952.
