Rajiv Gandhi remembered in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Aug 20 (UNI) Floral tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi across the state on his 64th birth anniversary today.

A series of programmes was organised at the Congress office and various educational insitutions.

Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu, along with party workers, garlanded the potrait of Mr Gandhi at the party office here.

Speaking on the occasion, party leader Abdul Manna lauded the efforts of the former Prime Minister in strengthening the Panchayati Raj system.

In Hazaribagh, the day was marked as 'Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas' and various events were organised at government and private schools.

Similar programmes were organised in other parts of the state, including Chatra, Bokaro, Koderm and Dumka.
