Pune: Yet another IT employee commits suicide
Pune, Aug 20: Is work pressure claiming lives of IT employees? Saroj Nayak, a software professional's body was found hanging from a tree on a hillock near Hinjawadi IT park, Pune on Tuesday, Aug 19. The 26 year old engineer was working with ACS Ltd, a sub-contract firm of Tech Mahindra. This is second such incident in a fortnight.
The incident comes within just two weeks after Sandeep Shelke, an employee of Pune-based IT firm Persistent Systems had jumped off his office building on August 8, leaving a note that expressed his inability to cope with growing work pressure.
Though it appeared to be a case of suicide prima facie, various angles were being explored before coming to a conclusion, police said. Nayak hailed from Vishnupura, Baileygram, Ninapuri in Orissa. He used to live at Chandan Nagar, said police authorities.
Police officers said the reason behind the suicide was not yet known, as Nayak did not leave any suicide note. “The post mortem report says that Nayak died of strangulation. No other wounds were found on his body. Investigations are on to confirm the cause of his death," said Police Sub Inspector Pratap Pawar of Hinjewadi police station.
Unlike Nayak, Shelke had left an explicit suicide note that left no one in doubt as to why he had ended his life." I am unable to do my work well and very depressed because of it. That"s why taking this step," Shelke had said in what he called “My death note."
