Dawood's close aide Tarik Parveen granted bail in assault case
Mumbai, Aug 20 (UNI) Tarik Parveen, a close aide to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, was today granted bail by a sessions court in an assault case.
He was allegedly involved in assaulting the driver of former don late Karim Lala's nephew Gudu Pathan at Dongri in South Mumbai last month.
Judge A S Kulkarni, while granting him bail, ordered him to furnish a surety of Rs 50,000 and also asked him not to tamper with the evidence available against him.
He was also asked to appear before the police authorities on every Monday till further orders.
According to Pathan's complaint, his watchman-cum-driver Khalid Shaikh, who was posted at his office on Mohammed Ali Road in South Mumbai, was stabbed several times by unidentified men on June 28.
The assailants claimed that they were sent by Tariq Parveen.
City crime branch arrested Parveen and four more accused in this case, all of whom were granted bail by the court, but Parveen's bail was rejected by the court after prosecution had opposed his plea on the grounds that his release will hamper the investigation.
