Panaji, Aug 20 (UNI) Chief Minister Digambar Kamat today led Goa in observing 'Akshay Urja Divas' on the occasion of the 64th birth anniversary of late former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, described as the architect of modern India.
Accompanied by chief secretary, Mr Kamat garlanded the portrait of Rajiv at the Porvorim Complex of the Secretariat and addressed different meetings in memory of the slain prime minister.
He had also administered pledge to the party colleagues at Rajiv Gandhi memorial hospital in presence of AICC general secretary B K Hari Prasad in charge of Goa Desk and cabinet colleagues, MPs and Legislators, after garlanding Mr Gandhi's statue.
The Congress leaders, in a separate meeting, also vowed to renew their commitment of strengthening the party from the grass root level.
