Sehwag ruled out of Sri Lanka series

By Staff

Dambulla, Aug 19 (UNI) Indian opener Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka due to an ankle injury that he suffered dring a training session.

Sehwag, who was India's highest run-getter in the Test series, twisted his ankle during the training on the eve of the series' opener and could not take field in the first match which India lost by eight wickets yesterday.

While his replacement is yet to be decided, the opener is set to return back home.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has already lost Sachin Tendulkar due to an elbow injury, admitted that it will be a huge loss to the team as Sehwag was playing well and was in top form.

''He was a batsman in top form but that's the way it goes in cricket,'' Dhoni told mediapersons.

India is already without its star player Sachin Tendulkar who suffered an elbow injury in the last Test against Sri Lanka.
