New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said 1200 fire personnel would be recruited in the Delhi Fire Service to ensure better safety and security of the city for which they will get advanced and modernised training to handle any fire and disaster.
Speaking after inaugurating a new Fire Station at PVC Market, Tikri Kalan. the Chief Minister said Delhi Fire Personnel would get 13 months salary every year besides ration money of Rs 1444, which has just doubled in the Sixth Pay Commission Report.
Noting that it is becoming necessary to set up new fire stations as large-scale multi-storeyed buildings and colonies are coming up, resulting in more residents in the colony, Ms Dikshit said the Delhi Government would establish a fire station in each Assembly Constituency. She said four new fire stations would be commissioned this month. Plots for 26 fire stations have been identified, whereas 15 are under-construction. New fire stations at Shastri Park, Mangolpuri, Tahirpur and Sarita Vihar would be inaugurated this month.
Ms Dikshit said all the fire stations in the Capital would be modernised with specialised equipments.
Commending the role of fire personnel who have been curbing fire tragedies and providing safety to the people, Ms Dikshit said the government has set up Disaster Management Centre at Laxmi Nagar, Rohini and Nehru Place fire stations.
Present on the occasion were local MLA Ranbir Singh Kharb, Principal Secretary (Home) G S Patnaik and Chief Fire Officer R C Sharma.
The Tikri Kalan Fire Station has been constructed on a plot of 9718 sq meter providing five bays for fire appliances, office accommodation and 04 staff quarters at an approximate cost of Rs 2.38 crore. With commissioning of this new fire station, neighbouring NCR areas would also be benefited.
