Noida, Aug 19 (UNI) Union Minister of Labour and Welfare Ram Vilas Paswan and Samajwadi Party (SP) General Secretary Amar Singh were today stopped by Uttar Pradesh police to go to the condolence meet of five farmers, who were killed in Greater Noida police firing on August 13.

Diverting their attention to the law and order situation in the state and on the orders of the state administration, police stopped Mr Paswan and Mr Singh to meet the families of the deceased farmers at Ghori Bajhera village in Gautambudh Nagar district. Five farmers were killed and at least 60 grievously injured in a police-farmer clash over land compensation in Greater Noida wherein, thousands of farmers from Ghori Bajhera and nearby villages staged a dharna at the Greater Noida Authority demanding increased compensation for their land acquired in the year 2005.

LJP leader Mr Paswan and SP leader Mr Singh were going to give Rs two lakh each to the bereaved families as relief fund.

Mr Paswan said being a union minister, he was bound to go by the orders of the administration to not enter the state but state Chief Minister Mayawati, who has been ''playing politics on Dalits' and farmers' dead bodies'', has no limits. He requested the administration to allow few LJP and SP leaders to meet the families of the farmers and let them come to the Delhi border to get the relief fund.

Mr Paswan said, ''we were obeying the rules and regulations, but Ms Mayawati was neither understanding the pain of farmers nor allowing LJP and SP to help them.'' Meanwhile, Mr Singh, calling the condition of Badalpur even worse than Nandigram, said in order to build the luxurious bunglow of the Chief Minister, farmers' land was being bought for minimal amount.

He said the Chief Minister's new friend and Left leader, during the SP's rule in the state, used to go to Nithari again and again, but now he didn't have time to even know about Badalpur. He added the SP would raise the farmers' voice along with LJP and other parties with alike beliefs.

He alleged, ''We are not criminals like Daud Ibrahim and Abu Salem but are people's representatives. Mayawati is not daughter of Dalit but 'daulat'.'' Later, District SP R K Chaturvedi said 144 has been in Noida and the administration had earlier requested Mr Paswan to not enter the state. SP minister Mohan Singh and LJP minister Ram Chandra Paswan also accompanied them. Police arrested Mr Ram Chandra Paswan, but later released and sent back to New Delhi.
