Fourth Pay Commission constituted by Sikkim govt
Gangtok, Aug 19 (UNI) The Sikkim government has constituted a two-member Fourth Pay Commission, headed by former Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court, R K Patra.
Official sources said here today that the Commission, which was notified yesterday, has been entrusted to examine pay scales of all categories of state government employees and suggest changes which may be feasible and desirable.
The Commission is expected to submit its final report by March 31, 2009, the sources said.
The sources further added that after studying the existing grades in government services, the Commission will suggest changes to ensure uniformity in pay scales with duties and responsibilities expected from each grade.
It will also suggest the date to the state government by which the changes or improvements, recommended, should be implemented.
It will examine variety of allowances and benefits in kind that are presently available to the employees in addition to pay, to promote efficiency in the administration.
Existing rules relating to death-cum-retirement benefits will also be examined by the Commission, besides studying the existing rates of TA/DA.
