Dunlop India to invest Rs 500 crore for tyre plant in Assam

Kolkata, Aug 19(UNI) Tyre major Dunlop India will set up a greenfield manufacturing plant near Guwahati under a new associate company at an investment between Rs. 400 and 500 crore.

"We have planned to set up an off the road(OTR) tyre manufacturing plant of 50-ton capacity per day at Chhaigaon near Guwahati. There will be an estimated investment between Rs.400 and 500 crore and the plant will be set up under a new associate company of Dunlop India," Chairman Pawan Kumar Ruia told reporters after the company's annual general meeting.

Mr Ruia said the project, for which about 60 acres of land had already been purchased, would be complete in eighteen months time.

In reply to a question, he said Dunlop India and other group companies would be holding stakes of the proposed new company.

"The plant would largely cater to the North-Eastern states as the region has a very big market for tyre industry," he said.
